NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Cokesbury, the retail division of The United Methodist Publishing House, announced Dec. 3 that its Cokesbury.com Cyber Monday event set a record as the biggest sales day in the website’s history. On Nov. 26, a record 20,000 customers visited the site in a 12-hour period; many were first-time online customers. Sales surpassed the previous single-day high by more than 40 percent.
Cyber Monday traffic to the site was up 124 percent over a typical Monday, with page views up 275 percent from the daily average. Cokesbury will offer additional promotions during the weeks leading up to Christmas, and plans to expand and enhance Cokesbury.com and the Cokesbury Call Center over the course of 2013.
Cokesbury operates the Cokesbury.com online store, and the 1-800-672-1789 toll-free Cokesbury Call Center. Its sales representatives are located in 25 states plus the District of Columbia.
The Cyber Monday sales are good news for the 200-year-old brand, which next year will close all 38 of its stand-alone retail stores and 19 seminary stores across the United States.
“With all the channels for products,” said Cathey Clark, merchandise manager at the publishing house, “Cokesbury has the best of all worlds for customers to get what they need.”
